ALCS Playoffs; Fifth Edition

By Danny Thornton | October 7th, 2008

Game 4 of the ALDS would be the last game of the season for both the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Bottom line is they both dug themselves into a hole and instead of taking 1 of the first 2 games, they gave both of them away. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays finished off the White Sox 6-2 while later that night, the Boston Red Sox would bring it to a head in the ninth.

As for the Rays, they did what they had to do; score. And the funny thing is, even through they had just 6 runs, they scored in 5 of the nine innings. That is what you are suppose to do if you want to put pressure on your opponent. Especially if they are having issues scoring. Pitching was really the story here though as Chicago had to go to the bullpen in the 4th and it went downhill from there. The Rays are set to face off against the Red Soxs for the first game on Friday. This will be for all the AL marbles and the chance to kick some National League butt.

As for the Red Sox/Angels game, I have to admit that it was a much better game. No scoring till the bottom of fifth when they crossed home plate twice. As for the Angels, they tied it in the top of the eight as they pushed their 2 across. Fate would have it that the Sox would win in the bottom of the ninth. All in all, a fitting victory for both. Boston’s faithful will be out in record numbers on Friday to witness the Rays in their first ever post season championship. And how fitting that both of these 2 teams represent the American League East.

Until the next games.
