Manny being Manny
I have to tell you this is one story that I am sick of. I have to agree with John Kruk of ESPN when he said last night on Baseball Tonight that this is a debacle that was created 8 years ago when the Boston Redsox gave Manny Ramirez his contract.
I have heard him whine so much that I could care less if he ever plays again. Players like him and Brett Favre that have so much talent but think that they can dictate how things are done need to be shown that it is not going to be put up with any more.
Until someone stands up to Manny and tell him that he will show up to the ball park on time and play and hustle and contribute each and every day or they will fine him, then he is going to hold it over his head. Earlier this year he got into it with a player in their dugout and Terry Franconapplayed it off that men will be men and have to let their tempers out. it is things like this that have him in this ship. Shut him down now before he gets out of control.

Danny,
I am kind of tired of Manny’s antics actually. He can hit the baseball hard and I know everyone loves his cute little “Manny being Manny” routine. I just don’t think he’s all that good of a ball player, doesn’t hustle, doesn’t take the game with any sort of ounce of seriousness (though I think baseball is and should be fun, there should also be respect). But he signifies to me the slacker type of ball player that’s self absorbed and looking out for his image above all things.
Him, Coco Crisp (who turned out to be a punk) and JD Drew (who likes to bail out of contracts) are what make this year’s Red Sox a little reprehensible to me and I’ve always loved the Sox as my AL team.
Anyways, I’m glad to see you’re posting here and wish you the best as you get Athletic Alley going in full swing.

JB, thanks for stopping in and commenting. I loved your page too. I am a huge Braves fan and will be signing up for your regular feed.
Now, back to the subject. Coco is the type of ball player that even ball players hate. He made a horrible slide and almost injured a player at second and then when the opposing coach said something, he blew a gasket. he is truly a punk.
As for JD “my back Hurts” Drew, he use to be someone I liked. The more that he became a primadonna, the less that I liked him.
keep in touch and hope to see you around.
I’m glad we’re on the same page.
I got your commentary at the LP by the way and thanks for that. There’s actually a link on the post to “the play” but here it is again if you’re feeling sadistic.
I don’t think Shane meant anything by it either and I don’t think he’s a dirty player. The play at the plate bowl over just makes me a little mad in this situation because I didn’t feel it was necessary. Plus we’re accumulating injuries in the worst way this season and McCann’s been one of our best hitters.
By the way, I added you to my blogroll so I’ll be stoppin’ in regularly and hopefully sending some readers your way. Congrats on the new blog and WELCOME!!
I’m excited about your “dream come true”
Happy bloggin’!

PS-you may want to get some content on your “About” page. it still has the default Wordpress greeting on it.
Here’s the link to the blogroll. I think it was broken in my earlier comment.
Danny, Manny is a Hall of Fame hitter but he does lack the greatness of previous left fielders that have played in Fenway Park.
When a player makes that much money I think it just goes to their head.
Manny not only had a scuff with Youkilis but also someone else in their 60’s in or near the clubhouse.
I have a feeling this will be his last year in Boston. I doubt anyone will trade for him.
The Sox need some middle relief help and JD Drew is playing real well.
Jay, I do believe that Manny is done in Boston. We shall see if anyone takes on the task.
